Training

Challenging and engaging.

Our training courses have been developed to echo our core goals of improving productivity, wellbeing and effectiveness at work. All our courses are infused with effective psychological perspectives and acknowledge the realities of working life.

Our interactive courses can be delivered in-person or online, depending on your requirements. Our mission is to bring the science of psychology to life, using evidence and avoiding fads, to deliver impactful and practical courses.

Our emphasis is on combining our experience of the work environment with our expertise as practitioner psychologists, to give delegates a learning experience that is relevant, challenging and practical.

What workplace training does WorkLifePsych offer?

Our courses are organised around our core areas of expertise: wellbeing, productivity and effectiveness. They focus on the skills and insights employees need to work sustainably, collaboratively and with focus.

Our training ranges in duration from ninety-minute introductory sessions, through to all-day workshops and multi-session advanced courses.

See below for more information on the topics we cover. We can make courses bespoke to the organisational context, or combine topics into a series of sessions.

Can training be delivered online?

All of our training can be delivered either in-person or online. Depending on the course duration, it may be delivered in one go, or via multiple online sessions, enabling participants to reflect and practice their new skills in between workshops.

We use our own online learning platform, which enables us to host digital contents and provide a blended learning experience. This brings together self-directed online learning, interactive live events, and offline reflection and skills practice for the most engaging and impactful learning experience.

How is the training evidence-based?

A lot of training in this space relies on out of date truisms, myths and fads. These are ways of thinking about people and work that may seem plausible but fall apart when placed under any scrutiny. We’re sure you’ve encountered many of these in your career. Whether it’s theories like ‘learning styles’ or ‘psychological types’ or beliefs about how the brain work or habits are acquired. These misunderstandings persist – but we flag them when we encounter them, explaining instead what the science of psychology says.

All our courses are based on solid psychological science. Whether it’s the importance of interpersonal connection in the workplace, the benefits of psychological flexibility, or the impact of unsustainable coping strategies – we can back up our recommendations with scientific evidence.

Our productivity courses give employees the concepts, tools and self-awareness to make the most of their limited resources: investing time, attention and energy to focus on the stuff that really matters. Topics include: prioritisation, working from home, beating procrastination, dealing with overwhelm and building focus and attention.

Effectiveness training

These courses focus on the skills that employees can use to augment their existing technical skills. The interpersonal aspects of work that make the difference. Topics include having difficult conversations, coaching others, developing psychological safety, and providing feedback.
