Coach on Tap

What is it?

Coaching is frequently thought of as something that only the most senior leaders should have access to. We couldn’t disagree more! ‘Coach on Tap’ is our accessible and cost-effective workplace coaching solution for individual contributors, team leaders and junior managers.

With ‘Coach on Tap’, we provide a pre-agreed number of one-hour coaching sessions for your organisation each month. No long-term contracts, no time-consuming administration. Simply access to high-quality coaching at work, as needed, when it’s most convenient for your employees.

Why 'Coach on Tap'?

Despite the positive impact it can have on performance, productivity and wellbeing, coaching at work is still often viewed as something reserved for senior executives. W  want to change that.

Evidence shows us that in-house workplace coaches can get great results, but not every business has a sufficient pool of trained coaches to make this viable. Additionally, the costs associated with some traditional executive coaching solutions means offering these to the wider employee population can be prohibitive.

At WorkLifePsych, we believe that coaching is for everyone, so we’ve created a cost-efficient, flexible and impactful solution we call ‘Coach on Tap’. This means coaching can be made available to individual contributors, technical specialists, team leaders and junior managers, without incurring the cost of executive coaching.

A simply monthly coaching model

The model is incredibly simple. We agree how many one-hour sessions per month you’d like to make available, and who can access these sessions. We provide full transparency throughout, support you to launch the solution, and indicate where themes arising across sessions suggest a training or other development need.

Process steps

1. Agree the setup

We agree how many sessions are needed each month, who can access them and how the service will be communicated.

2. Launch the service

We help introduce Coach on Tap to your organisation with a free webinar, so employees understand what coaching is and how to maximise their coaching experience.

3. Employees book sessions

Employees book available coaching slots through a simple online booking process.

4. Coaching takes place

We work with your employees one-to-one to focus on practical workplace challenges, goals and actions.

5. Review and adapt

The arrangement can be reviewed and adjusted as your organisation’s needs change.

Flexible coaching that delivers value for everyone

‘Coach on Tap’ meets the needs of the organisation and its employees, providing access to high quality coaching, supported by flexibility and an accessible price point – all without unnecessary long-term commitment for individuals or needless expenditure or administration for the organisation.

How could employees use these coaching sessions?

Unlike traditional coaching arrangements, employees using 'Coach on Tap' need only commit to the session they've booked, then consider whether an additional session may be useful. See the following illustrations of how Coach on Tap can make all the difference to your employees.

Dealing with feedback

John has received some challenging performance feedback from his manager and wants to understand how he can get past his frustration and take action on it. A single coaching session helps him understand the difference between his perspective and his manager’s, the origin of his feelings, and an agreed next step.

Interview preparation

Susan has been put forward for a promotion to team leader, but needs to pass a panel interview and is feeling nervous. Two sessions help her get clear on her strengths, practice interview technique and deal with the anxiety of being interviewed.

Productivity challenges

Erica has just been made a junior manager and is struggling with her new workload. Working with one of our coaches helps her get clarity on priorities, start delegating and adopt a more sustainable working style.

Addressing procrastination

Sean is a talented technical specialist whose pattern of procrastination is causing real difficulties for his colleagues. Coaching helps him understand the roots of his procrastination habit and gives him the tools to replace it with a proactive approach to his work.

Great reasons to go with 'Coach on Tap'

Introduce coaching to a wider population

You may want to facilitate coaching for your more junior staff, but have been put off by the costs associated with executive coaching. With 'Coach on Tap', you can have six times as many coaching sessions for the same price as a single executive session.

Minimise admin with our online booking system

We can support you to communicate and launch the initiative successfully, while also minimising the ongoing administration. Coachees reserve coaching sessions via our online booking system and we can keep you up to date on how the sessions are being used.

Develop your organisation's coaching culture

Many organisations strive for the creation of a coaching culture, but activity stalls after offering coaching to senior leaders. Making coaching available to a wider population is a key step in embedding that coaching culture, making coaching an accessible part of ‘how we do things here’.

A scaleable coaching solution

As your requirements for employee coaching increase, so does our capacity to support you. We can supply more than one coach to your organisation, or spread availability across multiple coaching days within the same month.

Support your people during change

Organisational change can be unsettling for employees, so providing drop-in change-focused coaching sessions over a period of months can support and reassure them. This can minimise the disruption felt during change and maintain focus and productivity.

Why work with us?

We're a team of accredited and experienced workplace psychologists with deep expertise in coaching methods.

Domain knowledge

As psychologists, we have a deep, scientific understanding of how people think, feel and behave at work. Our training has included a deep understanding of personality and ability at work, of wellbeing and productivity, and how to effect lasting behaviour change.

Coaching expertise

In addition to our deep domain knowledge, we all possess advanced coaching skills, enabling us to support your employees while also holding them accountable to the commitments they make. After all, coaching is far more than just simple goal-setting.

Ongoing CPD and supervision

Our professional accreditation and registrations require that we engage in ongoing Continuing Professional Development – which keeps skills and knowledge sharp – as well as professional supervision, which ensures we remain reflective practitioners who can access support when we need it.

Evidence-based practice

As scientist-practitioners, we use the approaches and tools that work. We avoid fads and fashions (learning styles, anyone?) or truisms that fail to stand up to scrutiny (30 days to build a new habit? Not really…).
