Ep 028: The Manager as Coach

Welcome to episode 28. This time, Richard and Pilar discuss how managers can be coaches in the workplace – what coaching demands of them and what kind of training and support they need.

Essentially, managers can be great workplace coaches, but it requires them to get out of their comfort zone and from time to time, adopt a very different style. This can contribute to the development of a coaching culture, a theme we’ll return to in a future episode. Managers who use a coaching approach also face unique challenges which are not necessarily shared by coaches who come from outside the organisation.

We also discuss Richard’s mindful trip to the dentist (!!!), recent events in Dublin and our upcoming refresh of the WorkLifePsych website.
