Ep 175: Leadership, identity and thriving
We continue our ‘Thriving at Work’ series with a look at leadership and leaders. Richard is joined by Leadership Development expert and executive coach, Dr. Wayne Mullen.
When you think ‘Leader’, who do you visualise? Someone who looks and behaves like you? Or do you picture a middle-aged man who uses his seniority to get things done? In this episode, we take a look at what it means to be a leader, why it’s beneficial to challenge leadership stereotypes and explore some of the many challenges contemporary organisational leaders face.
Richard and Wayne examine the importance of identity, authenticity and psychological safety – and what leaders can do to improve the climate and culture in their organisations. They then turn to leadership wellbeing and the benefits of effective and joined-up leadership development interventions.
We’re going to expand on the topic of leadership, wellbeing and performance in upcoming episodes, so please get in touch with your questions and comments. Drop us an email at ‘podcast at worklifepsych dot com’ and we’ll provide some answers in a future episode.
As always, thanks for listening.
