Our free online personal development community has been up and running for quite some time now. The WorkLifePsych Club has (at the time of writing) almost 600 members from around the world – all with one thing in common: a desire to learn and grow.
I’m delighted to announce that, as of this month, we are launching a new premium level to the club, which we are calling Community Plus. Members will have access to a wealth of learning and development events, as well as the support and accountability that comes from being part of a group. before getting into the details, it’s maybe useful to explore why we’ve created the Plus tier.
Why Community Plus?
I’ve had feedback over the last few years that many people can’t afford to access coaching with a professional, or can’t take time from their responsibilities to attend training courses or development programmes. Despite their appetite and enthusiasm, personal commitments and workload can so easily get in the way.
Working on your own learning and development can also be a lonely option. And so often, none of those books, youtube videos or article you consume translate into the new behaviours you’ll need to reach your goals.
Additionally, not every organisation makes learning and development available to everyone, or in a format that works for them. So, I wanted to put together a flexible online alternative, that individuals could fund themselves, and access high quality training and development content.
What’s included?
Every quarter, we’re going to run a masterclass with a guest expert speaker. These are designed so attendees can better understand a key topic and pick up some real world skills. They’ll have the opportunity to interact directly with the guest speaker and ask questions. I’m so excited about some of the sessions we’ve got lined up!
Again, each quarter, we’ll schedule one of the WorkLifePsych Bite-sized learning workshops. These are the 90mins online workshops we run across the themes of productivity, wellbeing and interpersonal effectiveness. And I’ll be polling members of the community each time to get their feedback and decide which workshop to run.
Every month, I’m going to host an ‘Office Hours’ session. This will be an open Zoom call community members can join to discuss their personal development. Imagine you could knock on my office door and come have a chat with me over a coffee. Very informal, but hopefully useful too.
I’m keen that at least some of our members will use this as an opportunity to work on some of their important goals. So we’ll also schedule quarterly sessions based around members’ development, where they can share progress, ask questions and benefit from the support and accountability of a community. We’ll start in December with a session on how to plan for the year ahead – looking at the role of values, goals and habits – and every three months, we’ll come together again to review how things are going.
So how much does all of this cost?
Given how things are in the world at the moment, my priority has been to make this as accessible to as many people as possible. So, we’re pricing access to the community at £9.99 per month. To put that investment in context, at least in London terms, it’s the price of a small pizza! But feel free to insert your own, local comparison here.
You can sign up for a free seven-day trial and you can cancel at any time if it’s not working out for you.
What if I can’t attend online events live?
To make this as accessible to a global audience – because I know we have Club members all over the world – We’ll record all the events and then save them on the platform for later viewing. So if your timezone, your job or your caring responsibilities make it a challenge to attend in real time, you can watch later and of course join in for the post-event online discussion.
How can I find out more?
If you’re not a member of the WorkLifePsych Club already, go to worklifepsych.com/communityplus to find out more about what’s on offer and how to sign up. If you are a member of the Club already, you’ll see the link to ‘Community Plus’ in the Groups menu on the left hand side of the interface. Joining us means you get everything that’s part of the existing Club, as well as access to all of the events and resources will be sharing in Community Plus.
Finally
This doesn’t replace the free tier that so many people have signed up for. It’s an additional, optional level of access, for those that want it. We’ll continue to share content, schedule monthly meet-ups and continue the conversations people have found so useful – all for free.
