It’s that time of year when we take stock and think about the year gone by – and start to make plans for the year ahead.
And while it can be tempting to leap into new ways of doing things or to commit to massive life changes, without some planning these personal changes won’t last beyond January. We all know how frustrating that can be.
Instead, what about adopting our theme for 2019? While 2018 was all about Psychological Flexibility, in 2019 we’re going to focus on Productivity. Basically, this means doing more of the right things, in the right way, at the right time. It means moving away from your habit of ‘busy’ and into a more sustainable and healthy style of working. Less of that frantic panic in the face of spikes in your workload and a more strategic and joined up approach to managing the tasks and responsibilities that come your way.
Sound good?
What might this look like?
Starting in January, we’ll cover one of the principles of productivity each podcast episode and explore it practically on the blog. So every two weeks you’ll be able to implement one of the principles and ensure you avoid ‘Big Bang’ change on January first.
This means picking up some small but impactful changes every couple of weeks, so you can make changes to how you work and organise yourself and notice the benefits as you go along. The goal here is to have an impact without any unwanted disruption.
The Pillars of Productivity webinar series
Our flagship productivity course is called ‘Pillars of Productivity’ and it covers a set of flexible principles anyone can adopt in their work and personal life.
These principles include effective prioritisation, responding with pragmatism to changes around you, clarifying your purpose and having a workable plan. Yes, you’ve probably guessed that the principles all start with ‘p’, to help them be more memorable.
And if you’ve read anything we’ve shared on Psychological Flexibility in the past year, you’ll also notice these principles woven through our approach to productivity.
We run ‘Pillars of Productivity’ workshop as a one-day in-house experience for clients, but in 2019, we’re going to offer this course via a series of webinars – so you can take part no matter where you’re based.
Keep an eye on the blog for more information, or simply sign up for our newsletter to get a notification as to when it’s available.
We hope that by following our productivity focus in the New Year that you’ll be inspired to make effective and long-lasting changes to how you organise and prioritise the important things in your life. And feel better for doing so!
