I’m delighted to announce a new set of free resources to help you develop your Psychological Flexibility.
When we’re psychologically flexible, we’re clear on what matters, we’re able to be present and take helpful action in the direction of our vales, and we spend less time caught up with avoiding discomfort and wrestling with our own thoughts and feelings. Decades of research have demonstrated how developing our psychological flexibility contributes significantly to our wellbeing, our job satisfaction and our goal attainment.
Starting this Friday (22nd March 2024), we begin a new series of My Pocket Psych episodes in collaboration with fellow psychologist and podcaster, Ross McIntosh. Ross hosts the excellent ‘People Soup’ podcast and is a recognised expert in ACT and the development of psychological flexibility in the workplace.
Each episode will see us explore one element of the skillset that leads to increased flexibility, look at how it makes a difference, and share simple ways you can cultivate this skill yourself. In our first discussion (Ep 156 of My Pocket Psych), we discuss our hopes for the series and look at what, for many of us, is our starting point – a sense of psychological inflexibility, or rigidity.
Follow along with us
The whole point of this series is to make these skills available to as large an audience as possible, so they can start to put them into practice and realise the benefits of increased flexibility. We’d love to understand how this is going for you and to answer any questions you have. So please, get in touch with your feedback as you work through the series.
In addition to finding these episodes on My Pocket Psych, you’ll also be able to watch our discussions on the WorkLifePsych YouTube channel. I’ve created a playlist especially for the series and you can find it here. You’ll also be able to join us online for live Q&A sessions, as part of the WorkLifePsych online community. Membership is free and you can sign up today at WorkLifePsych.club.
From April onwards, our monthly meet-up sessions will look at the skills we cover in the podcast. Each session will last an hour and give you the perfect opportunity to ask Ross and I questions about the episodes we’ve just published. The schedule is set out in the graphic below.
We look forward to seeing you at our events and hearing all about your own first steps in psychological flexibility.
