Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and this year, the campaign’s focus is on stress.
Job-related stress continues to represent a major problem for people, teams and organisations. And when we consider the wider cost to society through lost productivity, impact on support systems and healthcare, then it’s something that should really grab our attention.
Stress at work is unfortunately something that is frequently misunderstood. So, in an effort to bring some clarity to the topic, I recently invited occupational psychologist and psychotherapist Nicola Tatham to join me on the ‘My Pocket Psych’ podcast.
We discuss what we mean by ‘stress’ versus everyday pressure and what people can do when they feel this unwelcome combination of thoughts, emotions and physical symptoms.
This episode on stress in the workplace has been one of our most popular since the podcast started and I hope you enjoy it – and most importantly, take something actionable from it. Do get in touch with any follow-up questions. And you can follow Nicola’s psychotherapy twitter account over at @Freedom_Nicola.
